An important update for people waiting for houses or pending instalments under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana–Gramin, commonly known as PMAY-G, in Odisha. The Central Government has resumed releasing PMAY-G funds to the state.
The Ministry of Rural Development officially confirmed this development through a Press Information Bureau release published on 11 August 2026. The resumption of funds is good news for Odisha because it may help speed up pending instalments, incomplete houses and other rural-housing work that depends on the availability of Central assistance.
However, beneficiaries should understand what this announcement actually means. It is not a notification announcing a new beneficiary list, and it does not guarantee that every family included in the Awaas+ survey will receive a house immediately.
Why Were PMAY-G Funds Stopped in Odisha?
According to the Ministry of Rural Development, complaints had been received regarding irregularities in the implementation of PMAY-G in Odisha.

The complaints were investigated by the Odisha Government as well as Central teams sent by the Ministry. During the inquiry, shortcomings were reportedly found in areas such as beneficiary selection, construction quality, inspection of houses, PMAY-G branding and compliance with the scheme’s guidelines.
Following the inquiry, the Central Government directed the Odisha Government to take corrective and disciplinary action. The state was also asked to submit an Action Taken Report explaining the steps taken against the reported irregularities.
The first Action Taken Report submitted by Odisha was not considered satisfactory. As a result, the release of subsequent instalments of Central assistance was withheld until the required corrective measures were completed.
The Odisha Government later took the necessary corrective and disciplinary steps and submitted another Action Taken Report. The Ministry found the report satisfactory and decided to resume the release of PMAY-G funds to Odisha.
What Does This Update Mean for Odisha Beneficiaries?
For ordinary beneficiaries, the most important question is whether pending PMAY-G instalments will now be released.
The resumption of Central assistance removes an important financial obstacle. Therefore, pending payments and construction work may start moving faster after funds are received and processed through the official system.
But this does not mean that every pending payment will be credited immediately. A beneficiary’s instalment depends on several conditions, including the sanction status of the house, Aadhaar verification, correct bank-account details, construction progress, geo-tagged photographs and approval through AwaasSoft.
If any document is missing or information has been entered incorrectly, the instalment may remain pending even after funds become available.
Beneficiaries should contact their Gram Panchayat or Block office and check whether their records are complete. They should particularly verify their bank account number, Aadhaar details, PMAY-G registration number, construction stage and geo-tagged photographs.
Has a New Awaas+ Beneficiary List Been Published?
No new Odisha Awaas+ beneficiary list was announced in this official release.
Many rural families were included in the Awaas+ 2024 survey. However, being surveyed or having a name in a draft list does not automatically make a family a final PMAY-G beneficiary.
The surveyed household must satisfy the eligibility conditions. Its details must also pass physical verification, official scrutiny, Gram Sabha approval and the priority-list process.
A house can be sanctioned only after these steps are completed and a target is available. Therefore, people should not believe social-media posts claiming that every surveyed household will now receive a house.
The final status should always be checked through the Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti, AwaasSoft or the official PMAY-G portal.
What Should Beneficiaries Do Now?
People with sanctioned but incomplete houses should check whether their next instalment is pending. If it is pending, they should ask the concerned official whether any construction-stage photograph, inspection report or bank-related correction is required.
Families whose names appeared during the Awaas+ process should check whether physical verification has been completed and whether any objection has been raised against their eligibility.
Beneficiaries should keep copies of their Aadhaar card, bank passbook, job card, sanction order and PMAY-G registration details. They should never pay money to an agent who promises to include their name in the final list.

PMAY-G Progress in Odisha
The official Central Government release also provides information about Odisha’s progress under PMAY-G during the last five financial years.
During this period, Odisha received a target of 9,90,914 houses. Out of this target, 9,74,121 houses were sanctioned, and 7,94,628 houses were completed. A total of 1,79,493 sanctioned houses were shown as under construction.
These figures relate to the PMAY-G targets covered in the official statement. They should not be confused with the number of households recorded under the Awaas+ 2024 survey.
Has the Central Government resumed PMAY-G funding for Odisha?
Yes. The Ministry of Rural Development confirmed on 11 August 2026 that the release of PMAY-G funds to Odisha had resumed after the State Government submitted a satisfactory Action Taken Report.
Does this update announce a new Awaas+ beneficiary list?
No. The official release does not announce a new beneficiary list, final priority list, complaint deadline or statewide house-allocation date.
Will every family included in the Awaas+ survey receive a house?
No. Awaas+ survey inclusion does not guarantee a PMAY-G house. The family must pass eligibility checks, physical verification, scrutiny and the required approval process before a house can be sanctioned.
Conclusion
The resumption of PMAY-G funds is certainly a positive development for Odisha. It can help the state clear pending payments and improve the progress of sanctioned rural houses.
At the same time, people should not treat this announcement as the release of a new beneficiary list. Families should verify their individual status through official channels and complete any pending documents or verification requirements.
The next major updates to watch will be the publication of verified Awaas+ priority lists, fresh PMAY-G sanctions and the release of instalments to pending beneficiaries.
